A woman is alive because three men stopped her from jumping off Tulsa’s 71st Street bridge.

Traffic on the busy road was slowing way down when two men noticed a bicyclist struggling to hold a woman onto the ledge – her feet dangling over the side.

"We can't do everything, but we can do something," rescuer Clint Baird.

Those were some of the words running through Baird's mind when he noticed a woman standing on the edge of the 71st Street bridge Monday evening.

One man was already there, holding onto the woman's arms over a five-foot fence.

Baird said, "She was hanging over and her feet were dangling off, and he was just asking for help because he said he couldn't hold her much longer."

Alex Jayne stopped in the middle of traffic shortly after, noticing the struggle on the side of the road.

"I felt like the Lord led me there,” he said. “It was just part of his plan for my day."

Jayne wasted no time, jumping over the fence and onto the small ledge where she was standing.

Together, the three of them lifted her back to safety.

Jayne said, "I think a lot of us have been there before - maybe not that serious, but we've all been there."

They said the woman was frustrated that they stopped her from jumping, but they believe one day she'll look back and be thankful they were there.

"We're all called to be heroes,” Jayne said. “We're all called to lead people. We're all called to help people in need."

"If you can fix one small problem it can help change a life," said Baird.

The men also said they hope the story will give hope to anyone that might be feeling the same way. They said there are always people out there to help you, even perfect strangers.
