Paul Millsap swished the go-ahead jumper with 12 seconds left in the game as Atlanta improves to 14-14 on the season.

Westbrook tried twice to tie the game, with his first shot missing short, but the relentless point guard corralled his own rebound but his second shot was quickly swatted out of bounds by Kent Bazemore, setting up one last attempt.

Trailing by two with 2.9 seconds left on the clock, Westbrook grabbed the inbound pass and immediately rose for a three-pointer that fell well short of the rim, but Steven Adams somehow came down with the ball. Without enough time to think, Adams gathered himself and flushed the ball through the rim, but after a review the referees ruled he still had the ball in his hands when the buzzer sounded, giving Atlanta the win.

Despite trailing by as many as 10 points in the first half, the Thunder regrouped to lead by as many as eight points in the third quarter. Atlanta fought back to lead by three points heading into the fourth and closed the game on a 12-to-4 run after trailing by six with just under four minutes left.

Jerami Grant was second on the team in scoring with 15 points while Andre Roberson added 14 of his own. Adams finished with six points and nine rebounds while Anthony Morrow tallied only four points while starting for the injured Victor Oladipo.

Dennis Schroeder led the Hawks with 31 points while Millsap added 30.

The Thunder will be back in action on Wednesday in New Orleans against the Pelicans.
