The Tulsa football team traveled to Miami determined to finish the postseason on a high note, and that's what it did.

Monday evening, the Golden Hurricane blew out Central Michigan 55-10 in the Miami Beach Bowl.

TU got on the board first with a touchdown connection from Dane Evans to Josh Atkinson to put the Golden Hurricane up, 7-0.

The drive helped Atkinson inch closer to 1,000 receiving yards on the season.

A field goal from Redford Jones with 2:55 left in the first quarter elevated Tulsa's lead over the Chippewas, 10-0. The 46-yarder tied Jones' career-long kick.

Central Michigan showed some life by putting three on the board to make it a 10-3 game entering the second quarter.

Another field goal from Jones early in the second advanced TU's lead, 13-3.

Midway through the quarter, with five minutes before intermission, Tulsa was dominating on both sides of the ball, completely controlling the tempo.

And it kept rolling.

An end zone catch from Keevan Lucas put Tulsa up, 20-3.

With the drive, TU made history as the first team with a 3,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard receivers and two 1,000-yard rushers.

The Golden Hurricane opened the third quarter with two scores from James Flanders, recording his 18th and 19th touchdowns of the season.

With Tulsa up 34-3, many couldn't believe this Central Michigan team was the same one that beat Oklahoma State during regular season.

With just over six minutes in the third, Evans found Lucas for another end zone appearance to make the game even uglier for the Chippewas and their fans.

Evans was on fire, launching balls with near perfect placement.

The Golden Hurricane continued to roll with another score from Lucas late in the third, helping him tie TU's career touchdown receptions record held by Golden Hurricane greats Steve Largent and Howard Twilley.

Heading into the final quarter, Tulsa held a 48-3 advantage.

And when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Central Michigan, Jesse Brubaker snagged his third interception and returned it for a score.

Down 55-3, the Chippewas looked done, lacking energy and enthusiasm. The team couldn't score nor contain TU's passing and running game.

When the clock hit zero, TU ended with a 55-10 bowl victory, its first under Head Coach Philip Montgomery.
