Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, along with other top officers in the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), met with President-elect Donald Trump in New York on Thursday.

Cornett serves as president of the USCM. The delegation met in part to discuss “priorities related to infrastructure investment, public safety, unfunded federal mandates, and immigration,” a press release stated.

Along with Cornett were New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu (USCM Vice President), Mayor Steve Benjamin of Columbia, S.C. (USCM Second Vice President), Mayor Elizabeth Kautz of Burnsville, Minn. (Past USCM President), and USCM Executive Director and CEO Tom Cochran.

“We had a very positive, wide-ranging discussion with President-elect Trump today, and we appreciate his strong desire to work with the nation’s mayors on shared priorities that can strengthen America’s metro economies,” Cornett said.

Almost 300 mayors will convene in Washington for the 85th Winter Meeting of The U.S. Conference of Mayors from Jan. 17-19 on the eve of the Presidential Inauguration. The Trump Administration has been invited to send top-level appointees from both the White House and federal agencies to engage with the mayors at the Winter Meeting.
