Hundreds of members of area police and fire departments joined friends and family to a Broken Arrow police officer killed in an off-duty motorcycle crash.

Dozens of motorcycle officers led the hearse carrying Officer Eugene Orr, and firefighters even set up their ladders and stretched a flag between it for the procession to pass through.

People who knew Orr said his spirit is one that will be hard to match.

Although he served the Broken Arrow community, law enforcement from all over came to show their support for Orr; they said it's the least they could do for someone who spent much of his time training other officers.

In his final farewell, fellow officers with lights shining led the way for Orr.

"I'm feeling devastated for his family and for our family in blue, and it's a tough day for everyone I'm sure," said friend Jenny Motley.

In his 12 years of service, Orr served a major role in police recruitment and training; friends said his ability to touch everyone made him perfect for the role. It shows in the hundreds who packed the church.

Captain Thomas Cooper with BAPD said, "His position in training, his working with recruits all the way to 30-year officers and everyone has gone through him, so he was the center of our police department."

Natalie Groeber isn't an officer but is a member of the Broken Arrow Citizens academy; that's where she met Orr. Through the CPA classes she learned a lot about what made the Broken Arrow officer so special.

"It impresses me that they treat the smallest calls with professionalism, they don't lose their patience with you at all and you can tell because he worked so hard to find those quality people," she said.

Orr loved the holidays, and even with the sadness this one brings, his family hopes to spread joy to some of the youngest with gifts. It's one way they are continuing Orr's legacy of touching lives.

"It might maybe one of these kids will grow up to go into one of those quality individuals like all the police officers you see in broken arrow," Groeber said.

Officers from areas around Broken Arrow stepped up to patrol while Orr's coworkers attended his funeral.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up for Orr's family. He is survived by his wife Andrea, son Josh and daughter Hailey.
