Following a gritty win at Tulsa, Brad Underwood’s team hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff tonight at 8:00 p.m. CT.

Star sophomore Jawun Evans will be a game-time decision after missing a game due to a bruised AC joint in his left shoulder. If the Cowboys hold Evans out tonight, freshman Brandon Averette will start at point guard again after scoring 17 points and earning Big 12 Newcomer of the Week when he filled in for Evans last weekend.

Oklahoma State should handle the Golden Lions with or without their point guard and his 23.6 points per game. UAPB is 1-9 this season and has lost eight in-a-row. Senior guard Ghiavonni Robinson leads the team in scoring at 12.7 ppg while freshman center Deshon Bayless, fresh off his first appearance this year, adds 8.0 points per contest.

The Pokes will look for another big night from all the freshmen, not just Averette. Thomas Dziagwa scored 11 points in the second half and Lindy Waters hit the go-ahead bucket with 17 seconds remaining against Tulsa. Cameron McGriff quietly filled the stat sheet with five points, six rebounds, two steals and a block.

Jeffrey Carroll looks to build on his stellar start to the season. The junior has doubled his per game averages from a year ago, putting up 15.7 points and 8.1 rebounds while shooting .575 overall and .464 from deep.

Finally, when is Leyton Hammonds going to go off again? Hammonds is shooting better from deep (4-for-9 over the last three games) but he’s only reached double figures once this season.

Oklahoma State goes to Wichita State on Saturday for its biggest true road game of the non-conference slate.
