Police Looking For Serial Armed Robbery Suspect

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma City Police are looking for man who targeted a southwest Oklahoma City convenience store this month not once - but twice. Each time he points a gun wrapped in paper right at the clerk's face.

It happened at the Grand Mart, near SW Grand and Blackwelder, once on Friday afternoon and then Sunday night.

Fortunately the store's 16 surveillance cameras were rolling and captured several images of the thief as he barged into the store. When he noticed the clerk wasn't there, he turned around and left, but not before getting a closeup caught on tape.

"You get a very good look at the suspect's face on this video as he's walking out the door," said MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department. "He walks right in front of the camera! Anyone who knows him should recognize him."

Police believe the same guy is responsible for the robbery that happened here two day before. Since both times the thief pointed a gun wrapped in paper. But longtime clerk Walter Williamson isn't so sure, and thinks it may be two different people working together.

"First one was very hawkish, very drawn, very thin faced," said WIlliamson. "This other one looks like he's eaten well and has flesh on his face and some meat on his bones."

Both Williamson and the owner say this is the only time the store has been targeted in the past two years. But they say crime has definitely increased recently in this area. Workers here are just glad they have the option to close the inside window to keep thieves and unruly customers from hurting them or hitting them.

"Its not going to stop everything, but at least it keeps them from trying to beat you up or throw things at you," said WIlliamson.

If you recognize the man in the surveillance video, Police urge you to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
