An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused of bilking an elderly Midwest City woman out of more than $150,000.

Midwest Police began investigating after being notified by the director of a local nursing home. The director told investigators the suspect, 57-year-old David Wayne Ardoin, brought the victim to the nursing home in July 2016 without any extra clothing or personal belongings.

The director told police she got suspicious when she learned Ardoin had obtained power of attorney for the victim in August and the bills stopped being paid.

Police met with the victim, who said Ardoin was a friend of her deceased son, had lived with her for 10 tears and was taking care of her.

Investigators looked into the victim’s banking records and learned more than $150,000 had been removed. Police soon found that Ardoin had bought a 2016 pickup and paid a year in advance at a rent home. Investigators also discovered several cash withdraws at banks and ATMs, mostly at casinos.

Officers eventually located Ardoin, and when asked about the missing money, he told police that the victim gave him permission to use the money. The victim, however, told police she never authorized the purchases.

An arrest warrant was issued for Ardoin on Tuesday, on a complaint of Elderly Exploitation. A photo of Ardoin has not yet been released and so far, he is not in custody.
