A Frigid Night Ahead For Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:

Those pesky clouds today kept temperatures down in the 30s for highs. Here this evening you’ll need the winter coat as temperatures fall through the 30s under a light southeast breeze.

After midnight, skies will become partly cloudy as we bottom out in the 20s for most locations. Tomorrow skies become mostly to partly sunny and south winds crank up gusting over 35 mph at times. Temperatures will be in the 50s west to 40s east. Here in Oklahoma city, we should top out in the upper 40s.

On Sunday we’ll be tracking a cold front that comes sweeping through during the afternoon. Ahead of this front, there won’t be much moisture so we’re not expecting much in the way of rain in the state except far eastern. High will jump above average with a mix of sun & clouds and gusty southwest breeze. Highs will range from the 50s east to low 70s possible in far southwest Oklahoma.

Looking ahead towards next week we’ll continue with the fast pattern with another arctic front by late Tuesday. High temperatures will go from the 40s & 50s to 30s by Wednesday & Thursday. Right now moisture looks to be very limited next week with very low chances of any precipitation at this time. Overall the cold will be the main story with several shots of arctic air.
