Oklahoma City Thunder players continued a heart-warming holiday tradition Wednesday night, helping children who are being raised by their grandparents.

Each child was given a $250 gift card and each grandparent a $500 gift card to spend at Target. The children were paired with players and the grandparents were paired with a Thunder girl or Thunder broadcasting staff.

Steven Adams, Victor Oladipo, Cameron Payne and Nick Collison, just to name a few, traversed the aisles of Target getting the kids whatever they wanted.

Russell Westbrook shopped with 10-year-old twins Jazmine and Jaylon. He helped them pick out new shoes, and filled the cart with clothes and toys.

“It was fun, man. The kids did a great job actually knowing what they wanted, which was great. They had an amazing time and it was good,” Westbrook told News 9.

Jazmine, Jaylon and their grandma, Vera Potts are part of the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program at Sunbeam Family Services.

“These are my golden years, OK? I’m supposed to be relaxing,” Potts chuckled. “But I chose to keep them and raise them as my own.”

She is used to paying attention to price tags and keeping a budget. But with a Thunder girl's help, Wednesday night Vera was treated too.

“This is something different for me. For somebody to spend money on me and I’m like, ‘Oh my!’ I was just thrilled,” she said.

News 9 learned many of the Thunder players ended up paying for the gifts with their own money so that the families could use the Target gift cards later.

A Thunder representative said Target also surprised each family with another $250 gift card at the end of their spree.
