Multiple crews were called out to the scene of a large house fire just north of Harrah in the Hickory Hills township, Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called out to the scene in the 8600 block of Wolfridge Rd., near the intersection of N. Luther Rd. and Britton Rd. (also listed as NE 93rd St.), around 6:15 a.m. Authorities tell News 9 firefighters were originally called to the 2,500 sq. ft. home to reports of a fire in the attic. Once on scene crews reported seeing large smoke and flames shooting from the roof, the home completely engulfed by the fire.

The location of the home made things difficult on firefighters, as the nearest hydrant is located about six miles away and water has to be brought in. A number of explosions, believed to be caused by ammunition, could also be heard coming from inside of the house.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but authorities say the family inside the home made it out safely and there are no reports of injuries. Fire crews from Harrah, Luther, Choctaw and Hickory Hills were all called out to the scene.
