Atlanta had an opportunity to tie the game in the final seconds, but Tim Hardaway’s three-point attempt failed to draw iron as the Hawks have now lost 11 of their last 12 games.

Despite only scoring 12 points in the first nine minutes of the game, OKC’s offense found a rhythm in the second unit and rode that momentum throughout the rest of the game.

With a one-point lead at halftime, Westbrook took complete control of the game in the third quarter. The Thunder opened the second half on a 14-to-2 run with Westbrook having a hand on every OKC point during the run. After only tallying one made field goal throughout the first half, Westbrook outscored the Hawks by himself in the third frame 16-to-15. The Thunder also put together a 6-to-0 run towards the end of the third that gave OKC its biggest lead of the game at 81-66 following a contested layup from Jerami Grant.

Atlanta didn’t back down and opened the fourth on an 8-to-2 run, but Westbrook was too much to handle down the stretch. Whether he was assisting an Anthony Morrow three-pointer, or knocking down a baseline jumper while absorbing a foul, Atlanta had no answer for OKC’s superstar. Westbrook completed a tough driving layup to put the Thunder up 100-91 and the hole was too much for the Hawks to claw out of.

Westbrook finished with 32 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists, while Morrow added 15 points off the bench. Oladipo finished with 14 points while Steven Adams (12) and Enes Kanter (10) each hit the double digit scoring mark.

Paul Millsap led the Hawks with 24 points.

The Thunder will have the next three days off and will be back in action on Friday when it hosts James Harden and the Rockets.
