A crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle leaves one woman seriously injured. It happened on Monday in Norman on Tecumseh and Porter.

The victim’s friends are reaching out to the community for support as she remains in critical condition at OU Medical Center.

The motorcyclist is 45-year-old Lynne Rocco.

News 9 received a copy of the 911 calls that recount the terrifying moments on Monday night. The caller tells the dispatcher, “The motorcycle just got hit […] he’s laying in the street probably dead.” It seemed that way to many witnesses. One said the victim looked like a ragdoll tossed in the air as she flew off her bike.

The Norman Police Department says the motorcyclist was riding straight westbound on Tecumseh when she collided with a car turning left onto Porter at the intersection.

Hours later, Hilary Avila found out her friend Lynne was the rider injured in the crash. “It was heart stopping,” said Avila. She and her husband rushed to OU Medical Center right away where Lynne as of Wednesday remains under intensive care. Avila said more than 30 people were in the waiting room trying to get an update on Rocco’s condition.

Loved ones feared the worst after seeing Lynne’s motorcycle in pieces on the news. “I wasn’t sure if I was going to walk into the hospital and find out that she was gone or still alive,” said Avila.

Rocco has several broken bones and internal bleeding. The most severe of her injuries is the pelvis. She had surgery on her pelvis Wednesday. Rocco luckily did not suffer any organ or head trauma. Her friends are hopeful that she will survive.

“She looks amazingly good for what she has been through, but she has a long road ahead of her,” said Avila. She said Rocco is in and out of consciousness, but reacts with her eyes when she sees a friend come by the hospital.

She knows Rocco as a loving person who will always be there for her friends. She and Rocco’s friends are making sure someone is always by her side as she recovers from this trauma.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Lynne to help her take care of bills and her pets as she will be out of work for several months.
