Oklahoma's teacher pay raise problem is now a crisis, at least it is for me, it just hit home.

So many brand new teachers, just graduating from our Oklahoma universities, are fully prepared to, even expect to move to Texas.

And one of those teachers is my oldest daughter, student teaching right now, but graduating in May.

She's an Okie through and through, and so it stunned me over Thanksgiving when she said she'll be seriously looking at moving to Texas in May or June.

Tonight, she and another top flight teacher-to-be, attended a graduating teachers reception held by Edmond Public Schools, and both came away very impressed with the leadership of the district and the teacher support from the schools and community.

But, while the starting salary for a teacher in Edmond, $34,000 a year and is near the top in Oklahoma, in Arlington, Plano, Frisco, just about anywhere in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, they will start at $50,000 a year.

$34,000 versus $50,000?  We're not even in the ballpark.

My daughter tells me almost all of her classmates are headed to Texas, we train them, and they take them away.

Legislators: Oklahomans rejected the penny sales tax, but they're FOR teacher pay raises.

Show some leadership, and get it done... THIS SESSION!

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
