A judge sentenced a man to prison Tuesday for a killing a postal service employee in a crash three years ago.

The judge sentenced Matthew Lynch to 15 years in prison and 5 years probation, after Lynch pleaded guilty to killing 40-year-old postal worker John McCorkel II in 2013.

Authorities say Lynch was high on marijuana when his Dodge Ram collided with McCorkel's postal truck on 61st Street near Lewis.

McCorkel's family and friends were in the courtroom telling  how his death impacted them.

His wife said she "felt the world crumble around her" when he died, but she forgives Lynch for that day.

"I can't imagine how hard that must be, but she's shown some incredible grace and strength, and I'm sure her husband would be very proud of her," said Kevin Gray, assistant district attorney.

Lynch responded, saying he appreciates their forgiveness but said he hasn't forgiven himself.

He was also sentenced to a year and a half for a separate incident.
