The Oklahoma City Police Department says two suspects are on the loose and they could be armed and dangerous. Around 9:45 p.m. Monday, two men robbed the Family Dollar store on NE 23rd St. and Martin Luther King Ave.

An employee, who did not wish to go on camera, describes it as a terrifying experience. The young lady was going in to do some paperwork as the robbery was happening. She said the door was locked when she tried to go inside.

“That’s when I saw one of the armed robbers come around and point the gun at the door.”

She started running to call 911 for help.

“As I was running, I heard shots fired,” said the employee.

She said her heart sank knowing her co-workers were inside the store. Two employees were held at gunpoint as the suspects demanded money. They are described as two young black males who took off on foot with cash from the register and safe. They also stole 55 boxes of cigarettes and other items.

The witness tells us she saw them run off as they disappeared behind the store. She heard between four to six more shots fired when they left the store.

None of the employees were injured during the armed robbery. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
