OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma City firefighters remain on the scene of a large barn fire near SW 164th and Penn. Tuesday morning.

The fire is fully involved in a 60’ x 100’ hay bale barn. It grew large enough that crews had to fight it defensively.

As of 9 a.m., officials said the fire is still burning and will for some time.

There are no reports of injuries. Officials said nearly 700 1-ton square bales of hay are on fire.

Officials said hay bale fire is very difficult to extinguish. They have decided to leave the hay in the barn and allow the fire to burn itself out, which could take days.

The fire is contained within the metal structure.
