Our NextGen Live radar keeps you safe during severe weather but it can give us updates, in real time, on any flooding or winter weather events to hit Oklahoma.
"Even in a severe weather event, we're not looking at this instant we're looking at the next instant, we're looking at five minutes from now, 10 minutes from now," said Bob Baron with Baron Services.
Our NextGen Live is a one million watt, dual pol radar, which can detect flooding events, better than any radar in the state. From the size of the raindrops to how heavy the rain is and how many inches have fallen per hour, it can track second by second. We will always know where the biggest threats are located.
"Doing it live with that kind of speed is crucial because you've got seconds that you're dealing with," Bray said.
It can track with the same precision during any winter storm.
"In winter you will be able to use it to detect better what is rain, what is sleet, what is snow, to help the viewers avoid those areas that might be icy," Bray said.
Showing us for the first time where the rain and snow lines are located. No other television radar in Oklahoma can do this.
