EDMOND, Oklahoma - An Oklahoma university is on the map after being honored as one of the top schools for student veterans and active military.

The University of Central Oklahoma ranked No. 21 on the Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 list put together by the Military Times.

UCO was the only Oklahoma school recognized among 130 different four-year colleges across the country. Rankings are based on a survey and data reported by three different federal agencies.

Past and present servicemen at UCO enjoy disabled vet parking, and veteran's academic financial and physical needs programs.

UCO's No. 21 ranking this year is an improvement from last year's No. 43.

The school will host a Marine Corps birthday celebration today at 12:30 at the Max Chambers Library.
