Steve's Thunder Notes: Moving On

Posted: Updated:

So how long did you watch the game last night?  Kevin Durant played inspired against his old mates, scoring 39 points and tying a career high with seven three-pointers --ouch.

Plenty of buildup for the game, the so-called Russ vs. KD Round One. Did they even say hi to one another? If so, I didn't see it on the court. I watched the pregame warmups the best I could from my vantage point, witnessing quick glances from Kevin after going through the layup line, but no gestures, waves or nods to the Thunder side.  Awkward sums it up the best. For this guy -- I am glad to see "The Game" has come and gone.

A promising start quickly evaporated in the second quarter for Oklahoma City. Empty possessions in the second frame cost the Thunder dearly as the Warriors ran away from OKC, delivering that devastating "Warriors --Warriors" chant from the fired up crowd. I was surprised to see Durant in the game in the 4th quarter, while Russ sat and watched.

The glass is half-full will always be my approach in life, so sure it stinks to see the Thunder lose to Kevin and the Warriors, but a job well done the night before throwing the defense on the Clippers for the victory.  A split on this West Coast trip is a positive.

The Thunder are back home for five straight at the Peake, starting Saturday against Minnesota.
