OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash in southwest Oklahoma City, Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, crews originally responded to an injury crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 44 at S.W. 29th. While they were responding to that scene, they learned that an Oklahoma County deputy’s patrol car was involved in a second crash, also on northbound I-44 about 100 yards away from the first crash.

Authorities said this was a result of a chain reaction. A woman couldn't stop in time and rear-ended another car. That's when the deputy's patrol car rear-ended her vehicle.

A spokesperson for the department told News 9 the deputy was not injured.

The deputy's patrol car sustained minor damage.

One person involved in the original crash was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
