With some surface parking eliminated and streets narrowed due to construction, parking for the first Thunder game of the season this Friday could be challenging.  Within a quarter mile radius around the Chesapeake arena, several surface lots are now closed due to construction.

EMBARK is offering parking suggestions to avoid delays and congestion in downtown.  Public garages are all $10 during special events (for example, all Thunder games), about half the cost of surface parking near the Chesapeake arena.

The Santa Fe Garage at 2 Santa Fe Plaza has a tunnel for a less congested path to Chesapeake Arena.

- The Century Center Garage at 100 W. Main, is the closest option.  It also fills early.

- The Sheridan Walker Garage and the Arts District Garage are about three blocks from the Chesapeake arena.

Additionally, watch for slowdowns in the downtown area.  The City of Oklahoma City recommends looking for an alternate route to avoid the intersection of Gaylord and Reno where only one lane in each direction will be open.  Oklahoma Department of Transportation expects to have all exit ramps from I-40, I-235, I-35 and Lincoln open to westbound OKC Boulevard by Friday afternoon.
