A man was arrested in Coalgate, Oklahoma, after authorities said he shot one person in the face Wednesday night.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, at about 9 p.m., 48-year-old Robert Stockwell confronted the victim, 40-year-old Robert Buckley, inside J&J’s Sports Bar on Main Street in downtown Coalgate. During the confrontation, Stockwell reportedly shot Buckley one time in the face with a small caliber handgun.
Agents said Buckley ran out of the bar and into a nearby convenience store where workers called for help. Stockwell drove away from the area.
A Coal County Sheriff’s deputy stopped Stockwell's vehicle just west of Coalgate at approximately 9:30 p.m. OSBI special agents arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and began interviewing witnesses and the suspect.
Agents documented the crime scene and collected evidence. After interviewing Stockwell, agents arrested him for attempted murder. He was booked into the Coal County jail.
Buckley was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Both men are from Coal County.
