The Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrested a man after a chase that ended near Highway 75 and 41st West Avenue overnight. Troopers said Jerry Paul Wright was going more than 100 miles an hour after a trooper tried to stop him near Interstate 44 and Memorial around 3 a.m.

Wright eventually crashed in west Tulsa then started running away. A trooper had to tackle him and put him in a choke hold because he was fighting, according to an arrest report. During a search of his car, troopers said they found methamphetamine and an open Budweiser beer can that was "partially consumed."

The 43-year-old Tulsa man was taken to the hospital to be checked out. The arresting trooper said Wright admitted to drinking alcohol, taking narcotics and other prescription medication, using methamphetamine and smoking marijuana possibly laced with PCP and possibly bath salts.

Wright was booked on numerous complaints including driving under the influence, possession of a controlled drug, assault and battery on a police officer, reckless driving, eluding and failing to stop for stop sign.
