Fire Obliterates Home On North Side Of Norman

A large home in a rural area in between Norman and Moore was completely devastated by a fire, Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to the home located in the 2300 block of Hidden Lake Dr., near 24th Ave. NW and W. Indian Hills Rd, just after noon. Once on scene, crews reported seeing heavy flames and large black plumes of smoke billowing skyward. A lack of hydrants in the area made fighting the fire difficult for responding firefighters.

Authorities tell News 9 the female homeowner was at the house at the time the fire started, but managed to escape without safely. The cause has not yet been determined. A preliminary damage estimate has not been made, but the home appears to be a total loss.

Two ambulances are on the scene, but it is believed only as a precaution for the safety of the firefighters. No one was injured.
