Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Commissioners are expected to approve the sale of land just south of the MAPS3 Convention Center for a hotel on Wednesday.

In 2014, hotel developer Andy Patel, from Tulsa, purchased land for a Fairfield Inn on SW 5 near Shields.

When the convention center location changed, so did Patel’s project.

The City has been working with Patel and have reached a land sale agreement so his hotel can be built on Gaylord at SW 5, just southwest of the MAPS3 Convention Center.

The new hotel may not end up being a Fairfield Inn, but  will be upscale and feature a restaurant and large lobby

“We really work with our property owners and this is a good example of that,” said Alliance for Economic Develop President Cathy O’Connor.

The City recently agreed to enter into negotiations to with Omni to develop a convention center hotel.

Patel’s project is now the second hotel plan for the area.
