An Oklahoma City man stands accused of abusing a 5-year-old boy, and then trying to make it look like an accident.
Friday, the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office filed one felony count of child abuse against John Greg Skelton, 32, of Oklahoma City.
Skelton was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on August 4, but he is currently out on a $10,000 bond.
Skelton has been booked into the Oklahoma County Jail before. He was jailed in 2012 on a drug warrant. He has also been charged in Grady County on other drug charges and domestic abuse.
Court papers state the 5-year-old child was taken to Southwest Medical Center back on August 2, and that the child had bruising on his head, neck and back. The injuries were so severe the child was transferred to OU Children's Hospital.
Court papers state when questioned, the child told doctors his parents told him to say the injuries were from falling out of a tree. The child said what really happened was that Skelton hit him multiple times with a closed fist, causing him to scream, yell, and cry.
Four other children in the home were also interviewed and stated the 5-year-old never fell out of any tree and that they heard Skelton yelling at the child in his bedroom, and that one of them heard him hitting him too.
