OG&E: Power Restored In Southwest OKC

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Power has been restored to residents in southwest Oklahoma City after an afternoon outage disrupted power to thousands of customers around the area of Oklahoma City Community College.

According to OG&E's system watch, as of 3 p.m., more than 7,000 customers were without power in southwest Oklahoma City. Just after 3:30 p.m. power was restored to all of the homes. A spokesperson at OG&E tells News 9 that a pigeon caused the outage.

Oklahoma City Community College has closed its main campus due to the power outage. All classes and activities scheduled for the main campus on Thursday are also canceled. The campus is expected to re-open at 7 a.m. Friday, unless notified otherwise.

OCCC's FACE Center, Professional Development Institute and Capitol Hill Center are not affected by the power outages and will remain open for all scheduled classes and activities on Thursday.

Officials have not said what caused the outage.
