There are less than two weeks to register to vote in the state of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma State Election Board is asking people to turn in their application now before it’s too late.

The application must be postmarked by Oct. 14 in order for it to be processed. There are several public places to get an application, including libraries or tag agencies. It can also be printed online. All applications must be mailed in or turned into the county or state election board office.

“We don’t have an incumbent president this year and we’ve seen a lot of interest from the public so we have every reason to think we are going to have a very good turnout,” said Oklahoma State Election Board spokesman Bryan Dean.

Dean said the phones have been ringing all day with questions ahead of Election Day.

Once people are done registering, there are three ways to cast ballots. The most common way is to go to the polls on Election Day; however he is recommending other options.

The best option is for people to vote by mail. An absentee ballot can be requested and mailed and it can be turned in now.

Another good option is for people to go to the early voting sites at the county election offices. Early voting is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, and Friday, Nov. 4, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 5

Otherwise, voters will have to wait in line at the polls on Nov. 8.

Sample ballots can also be found at the Oklahoma State Election Board website. This will help speed up the process if the voter decides to go to the polls to vote.
