Biscuits 101

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 8 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 3/4 cup milk (2% or whole)
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Using your hands or a pastry blender combine the cubes of butter with the dry ingredients till crumbs are formed.
  4. Add in the milk and sour cream and use your hands to combine.
  5. Place the dough on a well-floured surface.
  6. Knead just slightly and then pat down into a round 1-1.5 inches thick.
  7. Cut out circles using a biscuit cutter.
  8. Place biscuit together so that they touch on a well-greased pie pan or small baking pan.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
