Crews have shut off the gas to a southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood after a line was accidentally cut by construction workers, Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to the scene in the 2400 block of SW 102nd St., between S, May Ave. and S. Penn. Ave., due to the leak.

It was originally reported that homes needed to be evacuated due to the gas leak. However, firefighters now say they went door to door and notified neighbors of the situation, but no one was forced to leave their homes.

Authorities tell News 9 a construction crew working on a property in the neighborhood accidentally struck a 2-inch gas line, causing the leak.
