Infant Crisis Services in Oklahoma City, is hosting a diaper drive in conjunction with National Diaper Needs Awareness Week from September 26 to October 2.
Due to the popularity of last year’s drive, officials with the organization said this year’s drive will again take place online, utilizing a wish list and baby registry.
Diaper need continues to be an ongoing issue in central Oklahoma, and Infant Crisis Services continues to be the only agency in central Oklahoma that provides diapers to needy babies and toddlers. The organization regularly gives away more than 10,000 diapers every week.
“What a lot of people don’t realize is that programs like SNAP and WIC don’t cover things like diapers or baby wipes,” said Miki Farris, executive director of Infant Crisis Services. “We rely heavily on the generosity of our community to make sure we can feed and diaper our youngest and most vulnerable clients.”
If you would like to participate in the digital diaper drive, visit the organization's official website or its Facebook and Twitter accounts for links to a wish list and baby registry. Donations will still be accepted at their office in northeast Oklahoma City.
