Funeral Service Celebrates The Life Of Terence Crutcher

About 700 mourners filled the Antioch Baptist church Saturday for Terence Crutcher's funeral service. The service, which lasted nearly four hours, was very emotional yet celebratory and urged the community to celebrate Terence Crutcher's life.

"We're not celebrating death, we're not celebrating death, we're celebrating Terence's life."

An emotional service as friends, family and a community say goodbye to Terence Crutcher.

Church leaders from across the area spoke on Terence's death, citing scriptures and offering words of comfort to the family and community.

Longtime family friend and TU assistant basketball coach Shea Seals was moved to tears as he spoke.

"We love you," Seals said. "And you may be gone now, but you will never be forgotten"

City and state leaders were also honored and asked to stand and be recognized for their efforts to unify the community.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett stood and thanked the community for the response to Terence's death by opting for prayer and peace.

" I am so very sorry, the sympathies of this community is with you, and you honor us with your presence, your grace and your request that this community speaks out in prayer," Bartlett said. 

The service, rooted in music, was dedicated to the celebration of Terence's life.

Crutcher's burial is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m.
