NICHOLS HILLS, Oklahoma - It’s a moment many metro foodies have been waiting for: Trader Joe’s is set to open its doors at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23.

Workers are putting the final touches on the store, located at 6409 Avondale Drive in Nichols Hills. The location is the former home of the Crescent Market.

Though launching without the company's trademark beer and wine, this is Oklahoma's second Trader Joe's store. The first opened up in Tulsa in February. The company runs more than 440 stores in 40 other states as well as the District of Columbia.

Trader Joe’s is known for healthy foods at affordable prices. The company says it has earned that reputation by cutting out the middle man and buying directly from manufacturers and growers. They say it keeps the price down and gives them control on how the food is grown and prepared.

Trader Joe's provides deli items and frozen foods, as well as prepackaged nuts, dried fruit, coffees, nut butters, vitamins, soaps and pet food.

The company’s nautical theme represents its founder’s idea of sailing the seas to bring back unique products from around the world.

News 9's Sassy Mama toured the store and will have your first look, coming up today on News 9 at 4.
