The manager of a metro area apartment complex is trying to help a mentally disabled tenant who’s struggling with her rent.
Tiffany Louie moved into Grouse Run Apartments near NW 122 and Pennsylvania Avenue several months ago.
She has a learning disability, yet works full-time as a certified nurse’s assistant.
Louie said she fell behind on her rent after her teenage son moved in with her in May.
Her apartment has no furniture or a bed. She sleeps on a pallet.
Grouse Run Manager Megan Fitch said Louie has been a model tenant, and has never been late before.
She said she’s giving Louie extra time to catch up, “because I’ve been there."
“I feel like I’m a true believer in God and I feel like nobody should react on that at first you know, when it’s breaking them down. Because then you actually give God more time to help,” she said.
Louie said Fitch has been a godsend.
“She’s a heaven-sent angel from God I think," Louie said. "Like I said if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be sitting in this apartment right now.”
