Former state Rep. Joe Dorman was just moving into his office Monday when News 9 spoke with him.

He's excited to take on the job as chief executive officer of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

Dorman said right now, one in four kids in the state go to bed hungry.

That's one of many areas where Oklahoma ranks far down on the list and needs improvement.

He said with his experience as an elected official, he hopes to provide a strong voice at the state and nation's Capitols.

"The opportunity to work with these organizations to improve the lives of kids. I wanted to do that as governor. I have the opportunity to do that in this role and work with organizations to build up their strength and do everything I wanted to do as an elected official but do it in this capacity," Dorman said.

Dorman said he will not be running for office in 2018 or the foreseeable future.

He wants to focus his new role at the OICA.
