Oklahoma City police are looking for a man who kicked down the door of a home Friday morning, and attacked someone inside with a gun. The search comes after an hours-long standoff ended without an arrest.

Authorities aren't releasing the name of the suspect yet. But they said he is an ex-convict, fresh out of prison, with a long rap sheet including some violent felonies.

After beating the man over the head inside a home in the 8100 block of Timothy Lane around 7 a.m., police said the suspect took off in a car – investigators said they're not sure if it was his.

Police said Friday they don't think this was a random attack, the man who broke in went there for a reason.

It's still under investigation, but authorities said it may have been over a car.

A neighbor who’d lived in the area for 24 years said he was surprised to hear of such an incident. “Pretty scary to think that somebody can just come into your house,” he said.

Later in the day, investigators got a lead that their guy might be in a house just a few minutes away in the 4400 block of Lunow Drive.

They shut down Sunnylane Road and the tactical team spent hours trying to get him to come outside and end this peacefully.

Turns out, he wasn't inside the home, and the search continues.
