Double Murder Suspect Captured In Kansas

A man accused of murdering two people in Northeast Oklahoma City is in the Oklahoma County Jail after being arrested in Kansas last week.

The father of one of the victims hopes everyone involved in what happened is brought to justice. 

It is still very hard for him and the family to come to grips with what happened. And despite not wanting to show his face, he wanted to speak out for his daughter. 

On February 3, 2016, his daughter Chameeka Harris was found in a car with Kendre Smith. Oklahoma City police said both had been shot.

Smith died at the scene and Harris was taken to the hospital, before passing away, according to OCPD. 

Chameeka was known better as Meeka. And in her 26 years of life her dad said she gave her heart to her family and kids in the community. 

"Just joyful. Somebody good to be around. Life of the party," he explained. 

Last week, police said 21-year-old Jamar Simms was arrested in Manhattan, KS in connection with both killings. 

Simms has been in the Oklahoma County Jail since Tuesday. He is being held without bond.
