Emergency crews are responding to a pair of reported injury collisions on metro thoroughfares at the start of rush hour traffic.

First responders were initially called out to a crash on the eastbound side of Interstate 240 on the south side of the metro. Traffic is down to one lane on I-240, between S. Santa Fe Ave. and S. Shields Blvd., while crews work the scene. Traffic on EB I-240 is backed up for at least three miles. Authorities ask drivers to avoid the area if possible.

A second crash was then reported on southbound I-35, just south of SW 19th St. in Moore. Two lanes of I-35 have also been shut down while crews work the scene.

No word yet on the total number of injuries or their severities at this time.
