"Operation Vigilant Shepherd" begins on Thursday. The goal of the operation is to reduce burglaries, thefts and traffic collisions in higher-crime areas of Cleveland County.

Those zones are highlighted on a map. On the north side, it's the Pecan Valley area along 192nd Avenue NE. In the southeast region of the county, extra patrol will be placed in a square region that ranges from 60th Street to 156th Street, and Etowah to Slaughterville Road.

A deputy will also be assigned as a point of contact in each section, and that deputy will be available around the clock.

The Sheriff also said residents and business owners in the targeted areas will be briefed on the changes, and you're told to expect to see an increase in patrol.
