Arrest Warrants Issued For Luther Town Council Member

A city council member in Luther is facing multiple felony charges in light of an absentee ballot scandal.

Ronald Henry was elected to the Town of Luther Board of Trustees last April.

News 9 obtained a list of the absentee voters from last year’s trustee election in Luther. Out of the 22 absentee ballots cast, nine of them had the same listed address. One of many red flags for investigators.

Ronald Henry is facing multiple criminal felonies, and an Oklahoma County judge has issued a warrant for his arrest.

A district attorney's office investigation into Henry began after suspicions of voter fraud began swirling around last year’s board of Trustees election.

“We normally don’t have issues like this and I think this is something a lot of voters were not aware of,” said Luther Trustee Member, Andy McDaniels.

It did not take much to find multiple false or duplicate addresses on the election's absentee ballot list. Court documents allege that Henry fraudulently used absentee ballots to gain votes.

“It’s not very good our votes don’t count for much when people who don’t live in the community vote on things that pertain to Luther,” said Luther resident, Chris Hill.

Luther Mayor Cecilia Taft confirmed with investigators that she notarized several ballots Henry delivered to her without the voters themselves present. That's illegal.

News 9 tried contacting Henry about the absentee ballots and after getting hung up on several times, got his voicemail.

News 9 has also learned that a second felony warrant has been issued for Henry for his involvement in the theft of several large circular hay bales from a neighbor. According to court documents, he trespassed on the property after cutting through a barbed wire fence to access the bales. 

News 9 called the jail and Henry has not been arrested or booked yet. His wife, who also got fraudulent ballots notarized, faces similar charges.
