Support for an Oklahoma veteran trying to turn his rescue dog into a service dog is pouring in through donations.

Last week, News 9 told you about the former Army specialist's goal. Now, it’s closer to becoming a reality.

Chris Boulay served two tours in Iraq and now suffers from PTSD.

A couple months ago, he found a black German shepherd puppy on the side of the road and the two became fast friends.

Boulay is now raising money to turn Blaze into his own service dog.

He has raised money to put Blaze through detailed obedience classes.

The group, Honoring America’s Warriors heard Boulay’s story and is offering specific training so Blaze can help the veteran with his PTSD.

“It’s amazing what dogs do for people, especially veterans,” said Honoring America’s Warriors Executive Director Scotty Deatherage.

Deatherage said the training would be free to Boulay and Blaze.

“All this has shown me, that I’m not alone,” Boulay said.
