Report: Thunder to Sign Guard Ronnie Price

Posted: Updated:

With the recent news of backup point guard Cameron Payne undergoing surgery for a Jones Fracture on his foot, the Thunder has reportedly made a move to fortify the roster for the upcoming season. Basketball Insider's Eric Pincus reported via his Twitter account on Saturday that OKC will sign guard Ronnie Price to a two-year contract.

Known for his pesky defense and leadership qualities, the 33-year-old's contract details have yet to be released, but is coming off a season in Phoenix where he held a career-high scoring average of 5.3 points per game while dishing out 2.4 assists. Price was undrafted out of Utah Valley State and the Thunder will be the seventh stop of his 11-year NBA career.

Payne's recovery is expected to take around four to six weeks, and with the fairly uncertain future of Russell Westbrook, it was a smart move by GM Sam Presti to add a glue guy like Price while reinforcing the point guard position.
