Before his shift at the Tuttle Fire Department Thursday morning, 21-year-old Montana Clark woke up early to go to the gym.

After leaving the gym, he was reportedly hit by an SUV on the driver’s side, completely crushing in the door.

Clark has a broken pelvis, broken ribs and a lacerated kidney among other injuries. He thinks his head was spared by the fact that he had leaned over to get a doughnut from his passenger seat when the SUV hit his car.

He was released from OU Medical Center on Monday afternoon, but will be healing for several months.

Clark is an intern firefighter and not a full-time firefighter. Since the crash did not happen while he was on-duty, their benefits are not available to him.

Since he won’t be able to do what he loves and work at the fire station, his fellow firefighters have set up a GoFundMe account to help support him while he heals.
