Oklahoma City firefighters will host their first annual “Read to Kids” event on Tuesday.

The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Oklahoma City Fire Station 30, located at 4343 S. Lake Hefner Drive, at the south end of Lake Hefner right off of N.W. Expressway.

This event targets children between Kindergarten and 3rd Grade. However, firefighters said children of all ages are welcome.

Firefighters hope the event will inspire children to embrace learning.

Here’s a timeline of activities planned for the event,

9:30 a.m. Firefighters read a book to the children followed by “storytime.”

9:50 a.m. Fire Safety presentation by OKCFD Public Education Staff. Sparky will be there!

10:15 to 11:00 a.m. Firefighters donning full bunker gear to teach children not to be afraid of them; Kids spray water through fire hoses; Firefighters tools and equipment on display; Arts and Crafts station hosted by Northwest Library.
