Oklahoma City Police are investigating after vandals stole and destroyed more than two dozen iPads from an elementary school on the southwest side of the metro.

Police say 23 iPads were taken from Arthur Elementary School, located in the 5100 block of S. Independence Ave., sometime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday. Several other iPads were found destroyed and scattered inside the school as well. At some point a fire extinguisher was also deployed in a hallway.

Surveillance footage captured several individuals inside the school late Monday evening, when the thefts and vandalism occurred. Now investigators are looking for help identifying the individuals, whom appear to be children, so that they can interview them about the crime.

“It disheartens us, we um have limited resources as it is, especially in this day in age with budgets, we are doing more with less,” Arthur Elementary principal Rhonda Schroeder said Wednesday.

Schroeder said the damage, theft and cleanup will cost as much as $25,000.

If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300. You can also submit an online tip at www.okccrimetips.com
