One delegate from Oklahoma says the Republican Convention is doing a good job of energizing the party faithful while trying to draw in delegates who do not support Donald Trump.

Gary Jones isn’t just the State Auditor. He’s also a Republican Delegate on the Rules Commission; the same commission that ruled that delegates who oppose Trump still had to vote for him.

Delegates promise to represent voters at the convention, but a handful wanted to vote their conscience and against Trump.

"Some of them are still passionate about their candidates. And when it comes down to it it's just two people in November and I think we'll come together," Jones said.

And Jones says that was evident by the crowd’s reaction to republican speeches.

"This huge variety of different people with everything from some very well-polished speakers to people that this may have been the first time they've had to speak in front of a crowd that big."

Included in that list, Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, who is accused of plagiarizing parts of Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2008.

"I think that's a long stretch to call it plagiarism,” Jones said. “I mean, obviously there's going to be some similarities if you have a spouse talking about their husband running for president. There's going to be some common themes."
