Buddy Hield Wins ESPY for Best Male College Athlete
It's been a year of celebration for Buddy Hield. After winning both the Naismith and Wooden Awards this past season, the recent lotto pick by the Pelicans added another trophy to his collection: the ESPY for Best Male College Athlete.
ESPN's annual award show took place in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theatre, and was hosted by professional wrestler John Cena.
Hield beat out Heisman trophy winner Derrick Henry from Alabama, Stanford soccer player Jordan Morris, Arkansas track and field's Jarrion Lawson, and Oklahoma State wrestler Alex Dieringer.
Hield averaged 25 points per game during his senior season at Oklahoma while leading the Sooners to the Final Four. He also brought home the Oscar Robertson Award and was the back-to-back Big 12 Player of the Year.
