I can tell you I was a little anxious as I approached the first officer I encountered securing the perimeter around a massive crime scene in downtown Dallas.

It was just 12 hours after their brothers in blue had been ambushed.

He had every right to be angry and irritated, he wasn't he was helpful and friendly, told me where we were and weren't allowed to go.

They weren't all so cordial, but they were professional and patient and under the circumstances that was pretty impressive.

And it was apparent that the people walking the perimeter were giving anyone wearing a badge an extra measure of respect and appreciation certainly earned in the hail of gunfire the night before.

I was hopeful that attitude would pervade Oklahoma City during Sunday's Black Lives Matter rally in Bricktown.

Despite the oppressive heat and the emotional nature of the march, protesters and police couldn't have represented themselves better.

Oklahoma City Police Department officers assisted marchers who were overcome by the heat, and kept counter-protesters back from the rally, and the people were there to protest police involved shootings hugged officers, took pictures with them and even prayed with police.

I commend both sides for their behavior, and I'm hoping the horrible atrocity in Dallas will cause us all to step back and measure how we treat each other.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
