OKLAHOMA CITY -

One suspect is on the run while two people are recovering in the hospital Tuesday night.

Police said this was the result of a violent home invasion in northwest Oklahoma City.

Tuesday afternoon, investigators blocked off the neighborhood for several hours as they collected evidence and interviewed witnesses to find out how everything unfolded inside this home on the corner.

“I was on my way home from dropping my husband off at work and I happened to come down and see all the cop cars flying past me,” said Desiree Lattimore, a neighbor.

A frantic call from a man inside a home near NW 36 and Morgan Road sent officers racing to his aid. He told a 911 dispatcher that people had broken into the home.

“While officers were responding, shots were fired inside the home. When officers arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds,” said Oklahoma City police Lt. Isaac Goodman.

Investigators said there was a struggle over a suspect's gun. The two people who shot were taken to the hospital.

When Desiree Lattimore finally made it to her neighborhood, she saw a familiar face and a man bleeding in the front yard.

“Somebody is standing there like that and everybody is in a frantic over there, you know that's very scary,” she said.

Lattimore said she has contemplated for a while now about starting up a neighborhood watch program. As she watched Tuesday's events unfold just feet away from her own home, she said she's decided now is the time to get a group started.

“This is a good neighborhood and for something like this and invasion? Now, we really have to be on our toes,” said Lattimore.

Police said the suspect who is still on the run was last seen driving away from the home in a black Lexus.
